Ingredients

JazzyBird Soaps uses quality and ethically sourced ingredients to provide skin care benefits, color, texture, and scents. We try to source organic products when possible and currently use organic/virgin coconut oil, organic almond milk, organic babassu oil, organic menthol crystals, organic sunflower oil, organic fair trade cocoa butter, organic fair trade shea butter and organic turmeric.

Plant-Based Oils

Apricot Kernel Oil-  This oil comes from the apricot fruit-bearing tree that belongs to the Rosaceae family. This exquisite oil is produced when the kernels enclosed within the seed shells are pressed. This mild, moisturizing oil is widely utilized in the soap-making and skin care industries and in aromatherapy and massage therapy. Apricot oil is ideal for mature and sensitive skin types as well as those with dry or irritated skin due to its rich concentration of oleic and linoleic acids (omega-6), which are moisturizing and conditioning.

Avocado Oil- Avocados are the fruit of the avocado tree (Persea gratissima), a member of the Lauraceae family native to Mexico and Guatemala. Avocado oil is high in unsaponifiable compounds that provide antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and therapeutic qualities. This oil is rich in vitamins A, B, D, and E, which help to improve skin texture and is excellent for dry, dehydrated, and mature skin.

Castor Oil- Castor Oil is a light gold oil expeller-pressed from the Ricinus Communis bean, a tropical perennial shrub, and is grown in Brazil, China, and India. Castor oil offers nourishing and moisturizing properties to soap while also providing a sturdy and fluffy lather.

It absorbs quickly into the skin, making it a great skin softener and conditioner.

Coconut Oil- Coconut oil is extracted from the dried coconut kernel (Cocos nucifera).

It is the most commonly used soap-making oil because it is highly nourishing and provides a protective barrier to the skin, shielding it from the elements. It also produces a rock-hard soap bar with excellent lather.

Evening Primrose- Evening Primrose oil is cold-pressed from the seeds of the Oenothera biennis botanical and has been referred to as the “King’s Cure-All” which is reflected in the wide range of its healing attributes. This oil is known for its soothing and moisturizing skin properties which makes it ideal for skin conditions such as eczema, acne, or psoriasis. 

Olive Oil- Olive trees (Olea europaea) are indigenous to the Mediterranean region and are members of the family Oleaceae.

Olive oil forms a firm soap bar and is high in Oleic acid, which helps condition and draws moisture to the skin. Olive oil is frequently utilized in hair and body care products due to the components' antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and moisturizing capabilities. These factors contribute to olive oil's anti-aging properties.

Safflower Oil- Safflower oil is produced by cold pressing or expeller pressing the seeds of the Safflower plant Carthamus tinctorius. It is highly hydrating and nourishing, and its anti-inflammatory characteristics make it ideal for sensitive skin types and conditions such as eczema and psoriasis.

Sunflower Oil- Sunflowers are native to North America and belong to the Asteraceae family. The oil is taken from the seeds of the plant, which contain between 40% and 65% oil. Vitamins A, C, D, and E and significant amounts of oleic acid are abundant in this oil, which aid to soften and give radiance to the skin. Sunflower oil is nourishing, moisturizing, and suitable for all skin types helping to treat dry and damaged skin caused by the elements.

Butters

Avocado Butter- Avocado Butter is a luxurious and nourishing addition to skincare formulations, serving as a rich cream-based carrier for the benefits of avocado oil. Unlike pure avocado oil, Avocado Butter is crafted by combining hydrogenated butter with avocado oil, resulting in a smooth and creamy texture. The hydrogenated butter serves as a stable base, creating a delightful consistency for use in soaps, lotions, and creams. This unique fusion allows for easy incorporation of avocado oil into various body care products, imparting its moisturizing and nutrient-rich properties. Indulge in the velvety feel of Avocado Butter as it enhances the quality of your skincare creations, leaving your skin feeling pampered and revitalized.

Cocoa Butter- Cocoa butter is a solid plant fat slowly extracted from the beans of the Theobroma Cacao tree. Cocoa butter, which is high in vitamins A, E, and steric acid, contributes to the soap bar's hardness and helps maintain a consistent lather. It assists in maintaining skin hydration and has been demonstrated to penetrate both the epidermis (top layer of the skin) and dermis (middle layer of the skin), making it perfect for eczema and stretch marks.

Shea Butter- Shea butter is crafted from shea nuts and is frequently produced using centuries-old processes passed down through generations. Shea butter, which is high in vitamins A and E and vital fatty acids, helps to moisturize rough skin and soothe skin irritations.

Clays

Gold Brazilian Clay- Gold Brazilian Clay is a luxury cosmetic clay from Brazil  that features a unique composition of minerals including Iron, Sulica, Titanium and Potassium. This lovely clay is used as a gentle exfoliant and suitable for all skin types including sensitive and dry skin and aids in the nourishment, detoxification, and elimination of impurities, oils and dead skin to keep your skin looking healthy and renewed. 

Kaolin Clay (White)- White kaolin clay is a delicate, mild, and light clay with natural absorbency properties. This clay is suitable for dry, normal, and sensitive skin types as it does not draw oils from the skin. It can also be used as an exfoliant. 

Kaolin Clay (Rose)- Rose clay, also referred to as pink clay, is a mild and gentle natural clay suitable for most skin types, including sensitive skin. It is gentle on the skin, exfoliates, draws toxins out, lowers inflammation, soothes skin irritation, and stimulates circulation. Rose clay is also used as a natural colorant in soaps and additional personal care products.

Purple Brazilian Clay- Purple Brazilian Clay is a luxury cosmetic clay from Brazil  that features a unique composition of minerals including Magnesium, Titanium, Silica, Iron and Aluminum. The purple hue of Brazilian clay is due to the presence of Magnesium which is known for its anti-aging benefits. This lovely clay is suitable for all skin types including sensitive and dry skin and aids in the nourishment, detoxification, and elimination of impurities, oils and dead skin to keep your skin looking healthy and renewed.

Russian Cambrian Blue Clay with Silver Ions- Russian Cambrian Blue Clay is well-known for its antimicrobial and anti-fungal effects due to its high silver concentration. Cambrian Blue Clay gently nourishes the skin with the optimum mineral composition and promotes cell regeneration, resulting in a substantial anti-aging effect. Additionally, it is known to draw out oils and impurities, clean pores, and provide efficient relief for various skin ailments, including eczema, psoriasis, and acne.

 Herbs, Seeds, and other Natural Items

Activated Charcoal- Activated charcoal can be used as a natural colorant in soap. It is also utilized in various cosmetic and medical goods due to its said ability to absorb toxins and aid in the removal of dirt and grime, making it an ideal product for those with oily skin. Additionally, activated charcoal is reported to be beneficial for treating acne-prone skin, nourishing dry skin, detoxing or purifying skin, and treating eczema and psoriasis.

Almond Milk- Almond milk is high in vitamin B, calcium, protein, and iron, making it an excellent source of these nutrients for your skin.

Almond milk is excellent for sensitive skin, and it is believed to hydrate, nourish, and revitalize.

Aloe Vera Juice- JazzyBird Soaps uses Aloe Vera Juice in place of distilled water in the majority of soaps we create. Aloe Vera gel and juice is extracted from the leaves of the Aloe Vera plant and is known for its ability to moisturize, exfoliate, nourish, clarify, and revitalize skin.

 

German Chamomile Flower Powder- Chamomile flower powder is milled from whole Matricaria chamomile blossoms and is widely recognized for its calming aroma and anti-inflammatory, skin-soothing properties.

Honey- Honey is a humectant, which means it attracts and retains moisture.

Humectants are beneficial for the skin since they aid in the retention of moisture. The antioxidants and natural sugars honey contains help increase lather in soap and create a gentle, warm, sweet aroma.

Jojoba Beads- Jojoba beads are biodegradable and naturally derived solid wax spheres created by hardening Jojoba oil. They can be used as an exfoliant and are considered suitable for sensitive skin due to their smooth and round shape.

Menthol Crystals- Menthol is a naturally occurring chemical component found in peppermint or other mint oils. Menthol contains a topical anesthetic with antipruritic, anti-inflammatory, analgesic, antispasmodic, and anti-irritant properties. When used in CP soap, it can provide a cooling sensation to the skin.

Poppy Seeds- Poppy seeds are seeds of the opium poppy (Papaver somniferum). Poppy seeds may be used in soap making as a natural exfoliant and is said to contribute to skin health, moisturize and cleanse the skin, and treat inflammation. 

Sodium Lactate- Sodium lactate is an organic liquid salt obtained from the fermentation of sugars present in corn and beets. It can be added to cooled lye water to expedite the unmolding process.

Sodium Hydroxide (Lye)- Sodium hydroxide is an essential ingredient used to make handmade soaps and other products. All real soap is made with lye, also known as sodium hydroxide, mixed with liquid. Any skin or cleansing product that does not contain sodium hydroxide is classified as a detergent and not considered soap, such as many soaps available at your local grocery store. However, once the chemical reaction known as saponification is complete, the soap is chemically changed into glycerin when the lye and oil molecules join.

The finished bars of soap include no sodium hydroxide.

Turmeric- Turmeric is a bright yellow powder that can be used as a natural colorant in beauty products. It is an anti-inflammatory agent well-known for skin care benefits such as reducing redness and dark circles and antibacterial, which is beneficial for maintaining a clear complexion.
